Sam Crow’s journey into the world of rug making began with a fashion degree, which steered her toward handmade textiles and, eventually, the creation of rugs. After working as a freelance embroidery artist for luxury fashion houses, she transitioned into her own embroidery practice, which naturally led to rug tufting. Driven by a desire to work on a larger scale and create more visually impactful pieces, Sam found rug making to be the perfect medium for her artistic expression. Throughout her career, she has been intrigued by the intersection of craft and art, a theme she continues to explore through Con Salud.
Sam’s first venture, Sam Crow Rugs, launched in 2017, allowed her to design and create hand-tufted rugs, pillows, and art. While Sam Crow Rugs found success, Sam recognized its limitations and decided to take a step back to explore other creative avenues. In 2023, she returned to rug making with Con Salud, a brand inspired by her deep connection to her grandmother’s home in Gibraltar. Visiting Gibraltar every summer as a child left a lasting impression on Sam, influencing her artistic approach. Con Salud blends her love for organic, hand-drawn, and non-symmetrical shapes with the imperfect beauty of Gibraltar, which she now considers a second home.
